Steady rain will cancel. Helmets are required. FREE of charge. The tour starts at 9:30am and should finish by noontime.

The annual BIKE-Arlington Tour is scheduled for Sunday morning, May 17. This easy-paced bicycle tour around town is organized by the Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee (ABAC) in local celebration of National Bicycle Month.

The family-friendly, easy-paced bicycle tour will travel on the Minuteman Bikeway as well as on local roadways. The goal of the community event is to celebrate the bicycle as a fun, efficient, and safe mode of local transportation. The 8-mile route is mostly flat (easy riding) and very scenic, passing by several waterways and conservation areas in town. So tell your neighbors and friends, get on your bike, and come ride around Arlington.

Summary of tour route: This year's BIKE–Arlington Tour will feature brief stops at Arlington's Great Meadows (located along the bikeway in East Lexington), the Arlington Reservoir, McClennen Park, the Arlington Recreation Center, and the historic Jefferson Cutter House. We will also ride for a stretch on the new, wider shoulders of Summer Street, which now accommodates cyclists and pedestrians better since its recent reconstruction.

The BIKE-Arlington Tour is free of charge, and all participants will be responsible for their own safety. Bicycle helmets are required. Bring something to drink. Meet on Sunday, May 17, 9:30 a.m., Hurd Field parking lot, Arlington Heights. Steady rain that morning will cancel.
